Medford Lakes Lions Club

For Meatball Contestants

So you think you’ve got some good meatballs? Want to join the competition? here are some of the things you need to know:

The Event

  • Sunday, February 4th from 3pm – 5pm at Vaughan Hall, 79 Tecumseh Trail, Medford Lakes, NJ 08055
  • Contestants should arrive by 2:15 pm – Please report to Suzy West to Sign In

General

  • Each contestant must make 15 meatballs, (approximately 3 lbs of meatballs), plus sauce/gravy equivalent that you choose to add
  • From this, 2 meatballs will be given to the judges. The remaining 13 will be cut into quarters and delivered to tables for sampling/voting.
  • No maximum size for the meatballs…but no dinosaur eggs! We need to feed people!
  • We will provide chafing dishes with Sterno. If you prefer to bring a crock pot or electrically heated serving unit, you must let us know at least one day in advance so we can prepare.
  • We will provide salad, rolls, butter and of course, pasta!
  • In the interest of fairness, we will make your entry anonymous to the judges and other attendants. Upon registration, we will contact you to assign an identifying number. You may share this with your crew but no one else, especially not a judge.
  • Maximum of 10 contestants
  • The entry deadline date is January 30th (unless we get 10 contestants before then).

Voting

  • The Judges will decide the Grand Prize winner. In the event of a split between Judges, the head Judge’s vote will decide the winner (Franco Coppola).
  • There will be a QR code at each table and there will be electronic voting for second and third place. Each purchased meal receives one vote.

The Pasta Dinner

  • No cost for the dinner for contestants
  • For non-contestants (also known as diners), purchase tickets online HERE. If you would prefer not to use the online system, please contact the Meatball Team at 856-701-7848.
  • We will only be accepting a limited number of walk-in diners
  • This is a BYOB dinner. Bottled water will be provided.
